Last year, the New Orleans Indie Rock Collective took over Frenchman Street on the weekend before SXSW for their inaugural Foburg Music Festival. The three day event was largely a showcase of local and regional talent, but it also provided national touring acts headed to Austin a good excuse to cool their heels in the Big Easy for a few days. The lineup for the second annual Foburg has just been released, and by the looks of it, the NOIRC is on a mission to not only expand the event’s footprint but also to raise its profile.
All the local heavy-hitters will be there – The Revivalists, Jean-Eric, Big Rock Candy Mountain, Sun Hotel, Caddywhompus, Vox and the Hound, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Smiley With A Knife, Big Freedia, I-Octopus, Empress Hotel, Flow Tribe, The Local Skank, Luke Winslow-King, and Big History (just to name a few) – but they will also be joined by an expanded cast of characters from all over the country.
Ra Ra Riot is playing with Lafayette’s GIVERS at One Eyed Jacks on Friday, March 11, Das Racist will be joined by Katey Red at the Maison the following night, and that Small Black show that was [intlink id=”179″ type=”post”]supposed to be at the Saint[/intlink] has been wrapped into the fest and will now close the weekend out at the similarly awesome Saturn Bar. Chicago mash-up specialists The Hood Internet, Seattle-based psychedelic rockers The Pharmacy, and Austin’s avant-electro duo Zorch will also be in town for the event.
A full schedule not been released yet, but a little digging on Jambase and the rest of the internets should give you a pretty good idea of how the daily lineups are going to shake out.
